Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Dietary Aide/Cook to join our team in providing nutritious and appealing meals for residents in assisted living, nursing homes, or healthcare facilities. This role involves preparing, serving, and maintaining high standards of food safety and sanitation. The ideal candidate will have experience in food production, food handling, and customer service within a healthcare or food service environment. A strong understanding of dietary needs and culinary skills is essential to ensure residents receive quality meals that meet their dietary requirements.
Duties
Prepare and cook meals according to dietary guidelines and menu plans, ensuring proper portioning and presentation
Assist with food preparation, including chopping, mixing, and assembling ingredients
Serve meals to residents in a courteous and professional manner, ensuring dietary restrictions are adhered to
Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen and dining areas in compliance with health regulations
Handle food safely by following proper sanitation procedures, including cleaning utensils, surfaces, and equipment
Assist with bussing tables and clearing trays after meals to ensure a clean dining environment
Monitor inventory levels of food supplies and assist with ordering as needed
Support the dietary department in delivering excellent customer service to residents and staff
Experience
Previous experience in food service, dietary aide roles, or culinary positions within assisted living, nursing homes, hospitals, or the food industry is preferred
Knowledge of food safety standards, sanitation practices, and proper food handling techniques
Experience with meal preparation tailored to special dietary needs or restrictions is advantageous
Strong time management skills to efficiently prepare meals within scheduled times
Familiarity with kitchen equipment and food production processes
Customer service skills to interact professionally with residents and staff while maintaining a caring attitude
